Action Now Magazine - Circa 1981?

G-Turn at Marina Del Rey Skatepark, California - Circa 1981 (with stupid quote...sorry Stacy!)

This was in Skateboarder Magazine...1980? In any case, at this time I had started to perfect the "Nose 360"

and I was consistently doing around 25 to 35 of them.

This was the last photo shoot that I ever did with Craig Stycyk....circa 1982, Thrasher Magazine.

My early skateboard career was coming to an end (I was reduced to doing the "garbage slide"!)

This is a Polaroid picture of some very early "Paul Hoffman" model Santa Monica Airlines skateboards. The

first Santa Monica Airlines boards ever? Skip Engblom, who helped start the Zephyr Team with Jeff Ho made

these for me "custom" and I took one on a tour of Europe. I never did much with SM Airlines or Skipper again,

but I really appreciate the effort he made for me. The boards are long gone; all I have left is this picture.

This picture has some unusual characters in it. Some of these people will become infamous in the skating world.

Craig Stecyk, in the heavy coat and baseball cap. This is his "signature" look and what he wears every day...to this

day. Stacy Peralta, already looking like the director in 1981 with his ski cap (thinking about his next Alfa Romeo

sports car that he is going to buy). Anthony Rocco, with his hands in his pockets. Anthony would go on to help

his brother and my good friend start "World Industries" which is the biggest and most successful skateboard

company ever (Steve has retired on the millions). You can barely see him, but that is "Fausto" with the mustache

and brimmed hat. Fausto was one of the originators of Independent Trucks and Thrasher Magazine.

To see a picture of him without sun glassless on is rare. I am not sure who that is sitting down, but it looks like Doug "Pineapple" Salidino.

Sometime in the early 1980's. Per Holknect and Putas at the Sea Sprite Motel in Hermosa Beach.

Per Holknect lived at the Sea Sprite off and on for 3 or 4 years (that and above the Anchor Liquors on Hermosa Ave.)

until they permanently banned him for trashing the place. In fact, he recently returned for vacation in 2004 and he

was still blackballed in the computer...20 years later and there was still a big warning to never rent to this guy again!

Poor Per, he hasn't had a drink in years and he is still labeled a party pariah all over the world.

Per Holknect skating freestyle at Hermosa Beach Pier. Per H has been back in Stockholm Sweden for over 10 years,

but I think that Hermosa will always be his true home and he visits as often as he can.
